I was chatting with someone in my local shop yesterday who knows about the mindfulness therapy that I do with clients to support them to overcome anxiety, pain or bereavement or to just be happy within themselves.
He said that although he understood the benefits of mindfulness he never really had time to practice because he had a very busy job, family, children etc...
So I asked him if he had his mobile phone with him. He reached into his back pocket and pulled it out. "Mindfulness is like your phone" I said. We can carry it with us, and just like we check our phones regularly to see messages, we can check in with ourselves, mindfully. The big difference is that our mindfulness batteries never run down and we don't have to pay a monthly contract.
Have a happy day with or without your phone.
