Just a memory ...

Our Brain creates memory through the connection of emotional experience with events. We are at risk of attaching to those memories. This creates a trap and in the future moment when we experience something similar, our Mind and Brain and Body 'remember' the previous emotional experience and colour the moment in the present. We place an expectation on the present moment experience and then usually become disappointed as the experience never meets the expectation. If the event is positive, joyful or happy we expect it to be the same or even better next time. If the event is negative,  scary or upsetting we expect it to be the same or worse next time.

So instead, how about being more aware of the attachment to the memory, trying to dial down or let go of any expectations and instead just being curious about the difference of the experience 'in the now'.
